Do you sell your wood products to anyone and is there a minimum?
Yes, we sell to anyone, designer, woodworker or homeowner. There are no minimum quantities. How can I purchase product from you?
There are four ways in which you can place an order with us at Classic Designs.

We accept MasterCard, VISA, American Express, & Discover credit cards, checks, and money orders. Can I send a personal check?
To receive our normal rapid service when using a check, consider using your check locally to obtain a money order or bank check first. Check orders, unfortunately will be delayed 10 days before shipment.
When can I expect my credit card to be charged?
Once your order has been processed your credit card will be charged. In the event that the items that you ordered are not in stock your card will not be charged until the items are ready to be shipped to you.
When can I expect credit on something that I have returned?
Once we have received your return, in good condition, back at our facility, allow 7-10 business days for credit to be issued.
Does your company charge sales tax?
We only charge sales tax when our customers actually purchase at our facility here in Vermont or when orders are shipped to Vermont.
Can I purchase a gift certificate for someone?
We do offer gift certificates. In the event that you wish to purchase a gift certificate please contact our customer service department at 1 (800) 748-3480 and a representative will be happy to assist you.
What does your guarantee have to offer me?
We pride ourselves on the quality of our product and we guarantee everything we sell for 30 days. This allows you the opportunity to examine the craftsmanship of the Classic Designs product line. Do you offer discounts on large orders?
Classic Designs offers a commercial client program. Please click on Volume Discounts tab on our homepage.
What is the lead-time on most of your products?
All of our products are in stock and ship the next business day. Orders requiring custom machining to stock products will take three days to ship. For Custom Orders, we will quote you a turnaround time. Items occasionally go on back order, so please try to plan ahead. Also, see shipping details.
What can I expect if a product is not in stock?
Classic Designs strives to have all of our products in stock and ready for speedy shipment to our customers. However, due to the nature of wood and our stringent quality control, we do sometimes have delays in production. When this occurs we strive to deliver as quickly as possible.
Can you do custom work?
At Classic Designs we strive to meet all of our customers needs. If you wish to order a table base kit and can’t find one in the catalog or on the web that will fit your size needs, please contact our customer service department at 1 (800) 748-3480. One of our representatives will be able to assist you in creating a custom table base. We also offer custom services such as cutting of legs, v-cutting, notching, splitting, quartering, mortising, and tenoning.
What grit is your product sanded to?
All our products are sold without finish. They are sanded, and are suitable for painting, staining and varnishing. At Classic Designs we utilize 180 grit sandpaper. Some prep work may need to be completed before finishing your product
What makes a leg a second?
Legs that are downgraded to seconds do not meet our high standards for first-quality products. These legs are occasionally available at a discount and are fixable by experienced trades people.
Do you provide tabletops?
We don’t supply tabletops because we prefer to concentrate on wood turning. We recommend that you find a local craftsman to build your tabletop.
Can I get a replacement for a broken furniture part from you?
The chance of us stocking a part that matches your need is very remote. You probably will need to contact a custom wood turner to have a copy of your part remade. If you need a referral, call our sales staff for assistance.
How do I attach the bun feet to my piece of furniture?
Bun feet without the wooden dowel are attached with a double-ended screw. Upon request these are provided for you at no charge. The bun feet with dowels are attached by drilling a hole in the bottom piece of your furniture, then you glue the bun foot in place.
Can I purchase different sized round aprons than shown?
We currently offer four sizes of round table aprons as shown on both our website and in the Classic Designs Catalog.
Are your bedpost mortised?
We do not mortise bedposts to accept headboard, footboard or side rail tenons.
What is the largest apron we can ship?
The largest custom apron we can ship is 88” with the tenons included in that measurement.
How are your products shipped?
Currently all of our products are shipped through The United Parcel Service. We offer UPS ground, next-day air, second-day air, and three-day select. Large orders ship common carrier. Call for shipping rates outside the continental U.S.
When will my order ship?
Generally we keep our entire product line in stock and would ship your order out on the next business day.
Can I check the status of my order on line?
At this time you would not be able to check the status of your order on the Internet. However, we have a very knowledgeable and courteous customer service department who will answer any questions you may have regarding your order.
What if the product is not what I want once I receive it?
We know it’s sometimes necessary to exchange or return an item. Call to advise us before making the return. Please have your invoice handy. All goods must be returned to us in original condition. Items damaged as a result of poor handling or packing will not be credited. A restocking fee of 20% will be charged after 30 days. We do not accept returns after 60 days. If you request a replacement we’ll charge you for the new item. Once we receive your return in good condition, we’ll credit you for the cost of the original item.
Can I change the legs in a table kit to a different style or change the size of the table base?
Stock kits cannot be modified in this way for the same money. If you have special needs, please call our sales staff for a custom table base kit.
Can you provide a leg made from a different type of wood then it is offered?
Generally we do not turn just a few parts in custom species. There are exceptions to this rule, especially for quantities, please inquire.
What wood would be best to antique?
We recommend any of our softer woods such as our maple or pine for antiquing.
What does laminated mean?
Laminated refers to pieces of wood that are glued together to make a larger turning square, then turned in order to achieve the dimensions required for the finished product.
Do the knots in the pine legs need to be treated or sealed before being stained?
If you are going to paint the legs or aprons you should prime them first. The reason we recommend the priming is because we do not want the knots to bleed through.
Can you guarantee me sap free cherry?
We guarantee 25% or less sap in our cherry wood. We are unable to hand select for sap-free cherry.
How difficult is it to assemble your kits?
Our base kits are worry and hassle free. Most kits can be assembled and ready for finishing in less than 45 minutes. The Windsor chair kits are for experienced woodworkers only.
What is the difficulty level of your Windsor chairs?
On a scale of one through four, these are definitely a four!
Can I purchase the shelf separately if I want a larger vanity kit?
We do not at this time offer the shelf separately.
Which corner bracket kits should be used for what legs?
We offer three types of corner brace kits. The 509-CB joins aprons to 2 ¾ inch or smaller legs and is made of wood. The 509-CBX is made to join aprons to legs that are larger then 2 ¾ inches and is also made of wood. The final kit we offer is the 508-CB, which is made of metal. We recommend this kit for any of our Carved Queen Anne Legs. However, this kit can be used for any leg up to 3 ½ inches.
